Police Checks for Incorrect Lane Usage on Highways

The Traffic Department is intensifying checks on highways, focusing on the correct use of lanes, especially in sections with three lanes.

Police checks will focus on irregular lane usage and improper overtaking from the left lane. The Police urge drivers to be careful and comply with the Traffic Code, especially due to the expected increased traffic.

A €65 fine is foreseen for violations regarding irregular lane usage and improper overtaking from the left lane.

All vehicles must drive in the left lane, with the right lanes only to be used for overtaking or when the left lane is not free. Buses, trucks, and vehicles with trailers are not allowed to drive in the right lane. The use of the emergency lane is only permitted in cases of emergency.
