Maintenance Issues Found in Buses: Six Grounded, Checks Begin on 50 More

A maintenance expert called by the Ministry of Transport has identified maintenance issues in buses, following recent fires. Six buses have been grounded, and checks will begin on 50 more.

The Head of Public Passenger Transport, Andreas Nikiforou, told REPORTER that the buses require maintenance according to the manufacturer's instructions and show signs indicating this need.

The grounded buses are three from Larnaca and three from free Famagusta. The checks deemed them unfit on Thursday and Friday.

Mr. Nikiforou added that the remaining buses can circulate, but all will be checked. A check program for the remaining fifty buses will begin this week.
