State services and local authorities are facing strong criticism for holding a private event with sound equipment in Agios Georgios Pegeias, an area within the Natura 2000 network. The Audit Office and the environmental organization Terra Cypria have expressed their objections, while questions are raised about the absence of permits.

The Audit Office rejects any association with the Carob Festival, emphasizing that it was a private birthday party and not a cultural activity. In addition, it points out the absence of the necessary permits.

The mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, speaks of targeting the municipality, while the president of EOA Paphos, Charalambos Pittokopitis, claims that it is a "storm in a teacup."

Terra Cypria denounces violations of environmental legislation and high levels of light and noise pollution, endangering the reproduction of priority species, such as sea turtles. They demand immediate removal of the platform and strict penalties.

The Department of Environment and the Department of Fisheries assure that they took the necessary preventive measures to avoid environmental damage, following an on-site inspection and instructions to the Municipality of Akamas.
