Festive Vasilopita Cutting Ceremony at the Municipality of Piraeus

The traditional Vasilopita cutting ceremony took place in a festive atmosphere at the Municipality of Piraeus, with exchanges of wishes for the new year. The Mayor of Piraeus, Giannis Moralis, expressed his optimism for 2026, referring to projects that will improve the city.

His Eminence Metropolitan of Piraeus Mr. Seraphim blessed the vasilopita and wished health and peace. The Piraeus Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra provided musical accompaniment to the event.

Mr. Moralis emphasized the importance of cooperation for a more modern and sustainable Piraeus. He also referred to the declaration of Metropolitan Seraphim as an Honorary Citizen of Piraeus.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Kostas Katsafados, Member of Parliament Nikos Vlachakos, and other representatives of local government and organizations.
