Over €147 Million Invested in School Infrastructure Projects

The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (ΥΠΑΝ) has announced investments exceeding €147 million for projects in school buildings across Cyprus. The projects include expansions, improvements, and renovations.

The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michaelidou, stated that the new school year begins with innovations and programs that empower students and support teachers. She also emphasized that Education is a fundamental priority of the government.

The air conditioning installation program is progressing according to schedule, with 45% of schools already equipped with air conditioners. In the free Famagusta district, the project is expected to be completed within the year. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Mrs. Michaelidou mentioned that the staffing of schools is starting without problems, and the ΥΠΑΝ intervenes immediately wherever needs arise.

Teacher training remains a high priority, with 6,000 primary education teachers participating in training seminars.

The Minister assured that the ΥΠΑΝ continues to modernize the school system with the goal of an effective and inclusive educational system.
