Dangerous Electrical Appliances: Safety Gate Issues Warning

The Department of Electromechanical Services has issued a warning regarding dangerous electrical appliances notified through the Safety Gate system.

The announcement calls on importers, distributors, and retailers to immediately cease the distribution of these products in the Cypriot market and to inform the Department.

Consumers who own these appliances are urged to stop using them and return them to the point of purchase, informing the seller.

Specifically, 11 electrical appliances were notified, including an electric heater (SR/02921/25), an electronic rotating base (SR/02927/25), lighting strips (SR/02984/25, SR/02985/25), USB chargers (SR/02990/25, SR/03015/25), an electric rice cooker (SR/02993/25), a travel adapter (SR/03013/25), and chargers (00125/25 - OR/00125/25, 00125/25 - OR/00126/25, 00125/25 - OR/00129/25).

In the event of a recall, importers, distributors, and retailers must immediately recall the products and provide consumers with an effective and free means of redress.

In the event of purchasing a non-compliant product, the consumer is entitled to a replacement or withdrawal within 2 years of the original delivery.
