Swarms of swallows have returned to Mesana in the Paphos district this year, a village known for its nature and historical churches. Hundreds of swallows gather there every summer, making a stopover before continuing their journey.

The swallows arrive in Mesana around mid-June, with the phenomenon peaking in late July. The EAC cables, the walls of houses, and the trees are covered with the birds.

According to community leader Periklis Masakaris, the best time to observe the swallows is either early in the morning, around 6 am, or late in the afternoon. The swallows stay in Mesana until about August 4th and then depart for other destinations.

The phenomenon has attracted many visitors, both local and foreign, who wish to admire the swarms of swallows.
