Cyprus Union of Journalists Calls for Answers on Limassol Fires

The Board of Directors of the Union of Journalists (ESK) has called on the Government and relevant authorities to answer media questions regarding the recent fires in mountainous Limassol. The ESK stressed that silence is unacceptable, especially when there are many questions.
In a statement, the ESK denounced the phenomenon of journalistic questions not being answered by competent officials, suppressing critical information of public interest. The Union emphasized that the scale of the disaster and the public interest require answers to all aspects and impacts of the disaster.
The ESK concluded that government officials, state officials, police and military representatives have a duty to answer journalists' questions, stressing that silence implies guilt.
