The Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) met with technologists from the Ministry of Interior to assess progress in estimating the cost of restoring damage caused by the recent fire in the Limassol highlands.

The meeting, held on August 5, 2025, was attended by the President of ETEK, Konstantinos Konstanti, and representatives of professional organizations such as SAK, SPOLMHIK, SSEOKK, and OSEOK. Concerns were discussed and clarifications were given to ensure the smooth continuation of work.

ETEK, in collaboration with professional engineering organizations, has undertaken to prepare a methodology for rapid mass cost estimation of restoring the affected buildings. Architects and engineers were trained in this methodology and began preparing cost estimation statements for restoring buildings to their pre-fire condition.

Mr. Konstanti emphasized the important role of ETEK and professional organizations in addressing the problems caused by the fire. ETEK will prioritize estimating the cost for first homes that have been partially destroyed.
