The annual national memorial service for Hero Georgios Charalambous Christofi, a reserve commando of the 32nd Commando Squadron who fell during the Turkish invasion of 1974, was held at the Holy Church of Panagia Potamitissa.

The memorial service was organized by the Potamitissa Community in collaboration with the hero's family, in the presence of representatives of political parties and a multitude of people.

The government was represented by Stefanos Stephani, who delivered the eulogy, honoring the memory and self-sacrifice of Georgios Christofi.

Georgios Charalambous Christofi, born in Potamitissa, fought selflessly in the Turkish invasion of 1974. His remains were identified in January 2024 and buried with honors on March 16, 2024.
