The amount of €1.5 million has been collected in the government's account to support fire victims, as announced by Accountant General Andreas Antoniades on the Alpha Information show.

The account, which was created in 2021 and remained inactive, was reactivated following requests from citizens to deposit funds. Mr. Antoniades clarified that the money is not intended to supplement existing government plans, but to create a specific project as a contribution from the public.

The account will close soon, after the government decides how the funds will be allocated, which will be done with full transparency and accountability. The largest contribution exceeded €100,000. Detailed contributions and amounts will be published.

Regarding the money collected in 2021 for the fire in Arakamas, Mr. Antoniades stated that it was allocated to agricultural subsidies and to cover damages. He also ensured the immediate payment of beneficiaries.
