A devastating wildfire in the Limassol province of Cyprus has claimed one life. A charred body was discovered inside a car in the Lania-Alassa area. Police are searching for survivors and missing persons.

According to the Cyprus Times, police are seeking a way to rescue 36 residents from the Lofou community, who were trapped as the village was surrounded by flames. The Lofou community leader, Giannos Neofytou, stated that despite early warnings, several residents remained in the village.

The fire started in the Malia community and quickly spread to neighboring areas such as Omodos, Vasa, Arsos, Potamiou, Lofou, Ag. Georgios Sylikou, Vouni, Agio Ambrosio, Kyvides, Souni, and Kantou. Strong firefighting forces are operating in the area, and Spain is sending reinforcements.
