Accountant General: Donations for Fire Victims Reach €1.2 Million

As of July 30th, donations for the financial support of fire victims have reached approximately €1.2 million, according to statements by Accountant General Andreas Antoniades to CNA.

Mr. Antoniades mentioned that some donations exceed €100,000, emphasizing that the goal is not to collect a large amount, but to satisfy the public's need to contribute.

The donations will not be used to cover state plans, but for a separate purpose related to the tragedy and the fire victims. The decision on this purpose will be made by the Council of Ministers.

The Accountant General assured full transparency and accountability, with an analysis of donations in amount categories and publication of the data.

Furthermore, the purpose for which the total amount of donations will be paid by the Government will be presented transparently, after the completion of the payment.
