Female figures on pedestrian crossing lights in all districts

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality have announced the installation of female figures on pedestrian crossing lights in all districts.

During the inspection of the installation in Nicosia, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, stated that it is a small change with big messages, consolidating equality.

The Commissioner for Gender Equality, Ms. Josie Christodoulou, stated that this action breaks stereotypes and promotes equality.

By the end of November, the Department of Public Works will install female figures on six pedestrian crossings in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and free Famagusta.
