The “Hope for Children” CRC Policy Center issued a statement regarding the disappearance of 13-year-old Majed, who has been missing from a minor's shelter since August 6. In the statement, the organization denies reports of bullying and expresses the opinion that Majed left to find his mother in Turkey.

According to the announcement, Majed informed the shelter's supervisor that he was going to a nearby store to buy food. When he was late in returning, shelter staff began searching for him. Another minor reported that Majed intended to return to his mother. The disappearance was reported to the Police.

The organization emphasizes that there was no report or indication of bullying during Majed's stay at the shelter. It also points out that Majed's attempt to reunite with his mother appears to have been motivated by intense nostalgia. Finally, the organization called on anyone with information to contact the Nicosia CID or the European Hotline for Missing Children.

Questions remain as to why there was no contact with Majed's family and why he was allowed to wander alone.
