Heraklion: 70-year-old Donates Organs, Giving Life

A touching act of humanity occurred at the Venizelio Hospital in Heraklion, with the organ donation from a 70-year-old.

The patient was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) when brain death was diagnosed. His family decided to donate his organs.

According to a hospital announcement, the organ donation process was completed on Saturday, September 20, 2025. A kidney and corneas were donated, offering hope to other patients.

The hospital expressed condolences and gratitude to the donor's family, as well as thanks to the medical and nursing teams of Venizelio Hospital, the General Hospital of Athens "Evangelismos" and PAGNI, under the guidance of the Hellenic Transplant Organization (EOM).

Organ donation is considered the highest act of love and social responsibility.
