Ithaca: Students without a philologist – 'The Odyssey is not taught'

Parents in Ithaca are reporting a shortage of philologists, resulting in students in Junior High, High School and Vocational schools not being taught relevant subjects. As Dimitris Arkouzis, president of the parents' association, stated on MEGA, 'We are on the island of Odysseus and The Odyssey is not taught'.
According to reports, Secondary Education has not replaced a teacher who is absent on leave, leaving at least 100 students without instruction. Parents report that students are forced to attend tutoring centers to catch up on the material.
