Severe Weather in Patras: Falling Marbles and Power Outages

Severe weather caused significant problems in Patras on Tuesday, January 20th, with strong winds causing marbles to fall from a building at the intersection of Kapodistriou and Petmeza streets. The marbles fell on a parked car, causing serious material damage. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
The Fire Department and the Hellenic Police (EL.AS) were immediately mobilized, cordoning off the area for public safety and conducting an inspection of the building. Additionally, reports were made of fallen trees and power outages in various areas, such as Messatida, Vounteni, Bala, Velvitsi and parts of Rio.
The Rio-Antirrio ferry line remains closed due to adverse weather conditions. Restrictions also apply to ferry connections from Kyllini to Zakynthos and Kefalonia. Passengers are advised to contact port authorities for updates.
