The Paphos Water Board (EOA) has filed a complaint with the police regarding farmers allegedly stealing water from desalination units in the Potima area to irrigate their fields.

The mobile desalination unit in the Potima area commenced operations on Monday to provide potable water. The temporary unit will produce 2,000 cubic meters of water daily, and when fully operational, it will produce more than ten thousand cubic meters of water daily.

The president of EOA Paphos, Charalambos Pittokopitis, expressed his satisfaction with the timely operation of the unit and congratulated the company that undertook the project, the Department of Water Development, the District Engineer of TAY Paphos, Haris Kasioulis, and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Mr. Pittokopitis noted that the unit has already been connected to the water supply of the Pegia and Kissonerga districts of D. Akama. A larger mobile unit is expected to operate in September and a third in October.

The District Engineer of TAY Paphos, Haris Kasioulis, appealed for a reduction in water waste, as inflows into the dams remain negligible.

Studies for the restoration of the Mavrokolympos dam have been completed, and it is estimated that September will be the month of implementation of the restoration.
