Archimandrite Varnavas and Deacon Raphael Defrocked by Synodical Court

The Synodical Court has decided to defrock Archimandrite Varnavas Chrysanthou and Deacon Raphael Misiaoulis, clerics of the Holy Metropolis of Tamasos. The decision includes their return to the ranks of monks.

According to an announcement, the decision was made after examining the findings of the investigating committee, the evidentiary material, and the indictments. The court also examined the defense witnesses and heard the defendants' apologies.

The President of the Six-Member Synodical Court was the Metropolitan of Kiti Nektarios, with members including the Metropolitans of Lemesos Athanasios, Morphou Neophytos, Constantia and Ammochostos Vasileios, Trimithountos Varnavas, and the Bishop of Arsinois Pancratius.
