Archimandrite Barnabas and Deacon Raphael Defrocked by Synodical Court

The Six-Member Synodical Court has decided to defrock Archimandrite Barnabas Chrysanthou and Deacon Raphael Misiaoulis, clerics of the Holy Metropolis of Tamasos. The decision leads to their return to the ranks of monks, due to canonical offenses.

The decision was made after examining the findings of the investigative committee, the evidentiary material, the indictments of the ecclesiastical prosecutor, the defense witnesses, and the defendants' apologies.

The President of the Six-Member Synodical Court was the Metropolitan of Kitiou Nektarios, with members the Metropolitans of Lemesos Athanasios, Morphou Neophytos, Constantia and Ammochostos Vasilios, Trimythountos Barnabas and the Bishop of Arsinois Pagkratios.
