Government Spokesperson: Review of Services' Response to Fire Underway

Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis stated that an assessment will be conducted on the operational response of relevant services to the recent fire, with emphasis on the protection of human life and the evacuation process.

He mentioned that during the meeting under President Christodoulides, the need to highlight gaps and weaknesses in the planning was emphasized. Regarding statements that angered citizens, Mr. Letymbiotis noted that the President is not satisfied with the outcome, while stressing the need to support those affected.

Asked about the absence of the Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, he assured that the state mechanism operates independently of one person and that the "Pyrsos" plan was activated under the Chief Fire Officer of the Fire Service.
