Yellow Alert for Strong Winds in Cyprus

A yellow alert for severe weather phenomena issued by the Cyprus Meteorological Service is in effect from this morning, New Year's Day. The alert is valid from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Very strong to gale-force winds of six to seven Beaufort are expected, with gusts of up to eight Beaufort in some areas.

Today, the weather will be partly cloudy with possible isolated showers, mainly in the west, north, and mountainous regions. Snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos.

Tonight, the weather will remain partly cloudy. Frost will form in mountainous areas and possibly in sheltered lowland areas, mainly inland and in the southeast.

On Friday and Saturday, the weather will be mainly clear with temporarily increased cloud cover. Increased high cloud cover will be observed on Sunday. The temperature will drop on Friday but will gradually rise until Sunday.
