Tala Community Leader: Creating Firebreaks is Difficult

The Tala Community Leader responds to criticism regarding the recent fire, emphasizing the difficulties in creating firebreaks.

The President of the Tala Community Council, Ioannis Konnikos, addressed the challenges faced by the Community Council in its effort to create firebreaks, following the fire that started in the Melissovounou area and spread to the Tsada and Koili areas.

Mr. Konnikos stressed that it is difficult for the Community Council to create firebreaks on its own, while assuring that he will take immediate care of cleaning all the plots in the community. He pointed out that the large number of plots and the difficulty of locating the owners in some cases are a significant obstacle.

He also referred to the difficult terrain in some places, which makes it impossible to create firebreaks. Nevertheless, he emphasized that Sunday's fire was limited to the Prophet Elias area, preventing its spread to Melissovouno.
