Crete: Fatal Accident on VOAK – 19-Year-Old Ukrainian Woman Killed

A 19-year-old woman from Ukraine died in a traffic accident on the VOAK (Northern Road Axis of Crete), near the settlement of Koutouloufari in the municipality of Hersonissos.

The accident occurred shortly before midnight on Friday, September 12, when the 19-year-old, while trying to cross the road, was hit by a passing car driven by a 21-year-old.

According to cretalive.gr, the car was moving towards Agios Nikolaos, while the 19-year-old was trying to cross the road perpendicularly. The driver was arrested.

A passing driver testified that he noticed the girl's presence shortly before the accident and managed to avoid her. Authorities and an ambulance rushed to the scene, but it was already too late.
