The Department of Environment is proceeding with the installation of 50 'green kiosks' in mountainous and remote areas of Cyprus, aiming to collect recyclable materials.

According to Senior Environment Officer Ioanna Constantinidou, the initiative is promoted through the LIFE-IP CYzero WASTE program (2021-2029). The kiosks have been placed in areas where Green Dot is not active, to collect paper, plastic, metal, and textiles.

A 'green kiosk' has been placed in the harbor of Kato Paphos, while a total of 6 kiosks have been placed in the districts of Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, and 2 in the district of Paphos.

Additionally, two reuse and repair centers are being promoted in Nicosia and Limassol (2028-2029), which will be complemented by a network of 36 reuse shops throughout Cyprus, near the Green Spots. Two reuse shops have already been placed at the Green Spots of Linou and Malounta.

Six marine litter management systems will also be installed in fishing shelters in Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, and Polis Chrysochous. The first system was installed in the harbor of Kato Paphos.
