Cyprus: Work Ban Due to Heatwave – Inspections by Labour Inspection Department and Police

The Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance reminds of the validity of the Decree for the protection of workers from heat stress, due to high temperatures.

According to a warning from the Meteorological Department for a red level of danger, the following apply:

  • Suspension of outdoor heavy and moderate work between 11:00 – 17:00.
  • Suspension of transport and delivery work with two-wheeled vehicles between 12:00 – 16:00.

The Labour Inspection Department, in cooperation with the Cyprus Police, is conducting increased inspections for the implementation of the measures.

The Ministry of Health recommends caution to vulnerable groups and taking measures to protect against heatstroke, such as avoiding exposure to the sun, staying in cool places, consuming plenty of water and light meals.
