Cyprus: Child Stranded at School After Mother's Arrest

A concerning incident was discussed in the Parliamentary Education Committee regarding child safety in schools. According to a report in the newspaper «Πολίτης», a mother was arrested by the Police, without specifying the reason, while she was supposed to pick up her child from school. The school was not informed, resulting in the child being left unsupervised after school hours.
Members of Parliament requested the Ministry of Education to issue a circular to inform school principals about the actions to be taken when a child remains at school after 13:05. Additionally, there is a lack of interest in security guards in primary schools due to the limited working hours offered.
