Cyprus: How Temperature is Measured – Weather Forecast for the Coming Days

Cyprus is experiencing the hottest days of the year. A yellow alert has been issued for tonight, and a red alert has been renewed for tomorrow, with the mercury reaching 45 degrees Celsius.
Michalis Mouskos, Head of Weather Forecasting, stated that the red alert will be in effect tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. He also noted that the temperature will drop to 39-40 degrees on Friday, but there will be increased winds.
A breath of fresh air is expected from Friday due to strong winds, while temperatures are expected to fall to average levels for the season, i.e., 36-37 degrees, over the weekend. There does not appear to be a re-emergence of a heatwave for at least the next ten days.
The measurement process: The weather balloon contains measuring devices such as the radiosonde, which helps in accurate forecasts. According to Filippos Tymvios, Director of the Department of Meteorology, the radiosonde is carried high by the balloon and measures temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind.
A wind measuring radar operates at the Athalassa meteorological station, providing measurements at many levels, helping to provide a more accurate wind forecast.
