Government Announces Support Measures for Fire Victims

The government expressed sorrow for the loss of two lives and announced support measures for those affected by the devastating fires. Government Spokesperson, Konstantinos Letybiotis, stated that immediate financial support will be provided to community councils to cover emergency needs.
Furthermore, full repairs will be made to the properties of those affected, along with temporary housing and coverage of their immediate basic needs, in cooperation with the community councils. The President of the Republic contacted the heads of the affected communities, the president of the Union of Communities of Lemesos, and the Commissioner of Mountain Communities by telephone.
Konstantinos Letybiotis confirmed that assistance has been requested through the European Civil Protection Mechanism. 14 primary and 3 secondary aircraft are operating, and additional aircraft are expected from Jordan, Egypt, Israel, and Spain. All plans and protocols have been activated, but high temperatures, strong winds, and drought are hindering firefighting efforts.
