Laneia: Forestry Department Warns About Ancient Tree

The Forestry Department warns the public to avoid approaching the ancient oak tree, a 'Monument of Nature', in Laneia, due to falling branches and risk of injury.
The tree, over 800 years old, requires attention due to the possibility of more branches falling.
'Monuments of Nature' are ancient trees linked to historical events and require protection. They are selected based on criteria such as age, size, and scientific, historical, or cultural value.
By 2017, 98 individual trees and 23 groups of trees outside State Forests had been declared protected, while 68 individual trees and 2 groups of trees had been recorded within State Forests.
