Larnaca: 500 Monthly Calls for Water Leaks

The Larnaca District Self-Government Organisation (EOAL) receives approximately 500 calls monthly for water leaks, due to outdated water systems. The percentage of unaccounted-for water reached 38% after the integration of all municipalities in the district. In the Municipality of Lefkara, water losses amount to 70%.

The EOAL has drawn up an action plan and is conducting on-site inspections, while projects exceeding €20 million are planned to address leaks and ensure water sufficiency.

The projects include the construction of a new water tank in Klaudia, the installation of 25,000 smart water meters, and the replacement of outdated water networks.
