The Larnaca District Self-Government Organization (EOA) has decided on emergency measures to rationalize water use and conserve water, due to the difficult water situation in Cyprus.

The goal is to reduce water demand in the city and district of Larnaca by 10% to avoid water cuts. EOA Larnaca claims it has already reduced water losses since taking over the management of water supply networks on July 1, 2024.

The measures include:

  • Intensifying repair work on damage and leaks.
  • Replacing old household connections.
  • Cutting off water supply to green areas for irrigation.
  • Integrating boreholes into the water balance.
  • Providing water-saving nozzles to consumers.
  • Intensifying controls on the use of water with hoses.
  • Information campaigns for rational water use.
  • Information presentations in schools.
  • Reminder of the obligation to have an 800-liter water tank and pumping systems in apartment buildings.

EOA Larnaca calls on the public to contribute to the water conservation effort.
