Larnaca: 11 of 19 Lifeguard Towers Staffed

According to Savvas Ioannou, District Supervisor of the Lifeguard Office, 11 of the 19 lifeguard towers in the city and district of Larnaca are currently staffed. Five recruitment processes have already taken place this year, with the latest being held last week.

Four new individuals are expected to take up duties, reinforcing the tower in front of the Lenios Hotel. Mr. Ioannou emphasized the lack of interest and stricter recruitment criteria (at least three lifeguard medals, certification, swimming and First Aid performance).

The towers operate with two shifts from 06:30 to 20:00. The towers at Finikoudes (three), Mackenzie (three), KOT, Oroklini, Chryssopsaro, Lenios and Kastella are staffed.

Mr. Ioannou urged the elderly and people with health problems to avoid sun exposure during peak hours.
