11 of the 19 lifeguard towers in the city and province of Larnaca are staffed, according to Savvas Ioannou, Administrative Officer A, Provincial Supervisor of the Lifeguard Office at the Larnaca District Administration.

As Mr. Ioannou stated, five recruitment processes have already been conducted, and four people are expected to start working for the new tower in front of the Lenios Hotel.

Mr. Ioannou noted that there is a shortage of lifeguards and the recruitment procedures have become stricter. Candidates must have training with at least three medals from lifeguard clubs and be certified by the state.

Also required is swimming 300 meters in under 7.5 minutes, knowledge of first aid, and an oral examination.

In Larnaca, staffed towers are located on the beaches of KOT, Periptero Oroklini, Chrysopsaro, Lenios, Finikoudes, Kastela, and Mackenzie.

Mr. Ioannou urged citizens to be careful, especially the elderly and those with medical problems.
