Limassol Fire: 95% of Aid Paid to Affected Households

95% of the €2.2 million one-off aid has been paid to households affected by the fire in mountainous Limassol, according to the Government Spokesperson.

Water and electricity supply have been fully restored in the affected communities. Specifically, €10,000 per household and €2,000 per child were given for completely destroyed homes, and €5,000 per household and €1,000 per child for damaged homes.

Mr. Letybiotis stated that cost estimates have been completed for 300 destroyed homes, and first payments have been initiated in over 160 cases. Additionally, rent subsidies for families unable to return to their homes will begin on September 1st.

€205,000 has been paid to cover the salaries of 165 employees, while €39,760 has been disbursed to 14 businesses for damages to raw materials and equipment. Furthermore, 1,266 farmers and livestock breeders received aid exceeding €3 million.

15 communities have requested the supply of generators, and a planting program will be implemented in the autumn.

The Presidency of the Republic stated that the plan is in full progress with coordinated actions by the relevant Ministries.
