Limassol Gears Up for Carnival β "Annie Alexui" Costumes Expected

Limassol is preparing for its annual carnival, with events set to fill the city with color, music, and joy. Despite recent challenges, the city expects to immerse itself in an atmosphere of celebration and fun.
Skevi Antoniadou, Cultural Officer of Limassol, spoke on the ENIMEROSI TORA program, reminding everyone that the "Queen of Passion and Madness of the Limassol Carnival," Amaryllis Kyriakou, will be crowned on Tsiknopempti (Smoky Thursday). Festivities will begin with treats in various areas of Limassol, followed by a procession from the municipal hall to Grigoris Afxentiou Square, where concerts and other events will take place.
Emphasis is placed on the "Pellomaska," a traditional mask made from simple materials. Workshops will be held at the Panos Solomonides Cultural Center to introduce young people to the tradition.
Key dates include February 14th, with a carnival dance and awards for the best costumes, and February 22nd, the day of the official grand carnival. Skevi Antoniadou mentioned that satirical costumes, such as "Annie Alexui," are expected.
Finally, the importance of safety and self-control during the celebrations was emphasized.
