Limassol: Compensation for Burned Houses – ETEK Proposal
Share on:

The Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) has submitted a proposal for compensation amounts for homeowners affected by the recent fire in mountainous Limassol. The proposal concerns both completely destroyed and partially damaged houses.

According to the president of ETEK, Mr. Konstantinos Konstantis, the compensation ranges between €1,200 and €1,900 per square meter, depending on the construction materials. These prices refer to the main buildings. For auxiliary buildings, the compensation ranges between €200 and €800 per square meter.

Specifically, for conventional buildings (bricks, concrete), compensation between €1,600 and €1,800 per sq.m. is proposed. For stone buildings, the compensation amounts to between €1,750 and €1,900 per sq.m.

The ETEK proposal also includes compensation for external works, such as pergolas (€80-€170 per sq.m.), paving (€50-€90 per sq.m.) and fences (aluminum: €180-€200 per running meter, wood: €100-€120 per running meter, concrete: €220-€250 per running meter).

ETEK also takes into account the cost of demolition, cleaning and waste management, proposing compensation of 10% of the cost of restoring the shell in case of total destruction.

ETEK teams have already dealt with approximately 300 cases of partial destruction, with the cost of restoration ranging in most cases from 3,000 to 15,000 euros.
