Nicosia: Traffic Measures and Security for EU Presidency Inauguration

Due to the Inauguration Ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, traffic arrangements and security measures will be implemented in Nicosia.

The Police announced that there will be parking restrictions and road closures around the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) building. Specifically, parking will be prohibited on various streets, including Demostheni Severi Street and Gr. Afxentiou Street.

Additionally, the Municipality of Nicosia will not allow private vehicles to park in the two underground parking areas of the old G.S.P. stadium. Road closures around the THOC area will begin at 14:30.

By order of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles "drones" is strictly prohibited in the wider area of THOC and the Conference Center throughout the Presidency.

Also, according to OmegaLive, instructions were given not to grant day-offs and overtime to the members of the Force under management, due to the day.
