Fire Chief: Factory Inspections Needed to Prevent Fires
Share on:

Fire Chief Nikos Logginos emphasized the need for competent state authorities to inspect factories and review permits to reduce the likelihood of fires.

Speaking on 'Morning Route,' regarding the recent factory fires in Ypsonas and the SOPAZ area, Mr. Logginos pointed out that fire safety controls in such areas need to be intensified.

He mentioned that in many cases of fires, it is found that factories make alterations, resulting in their use being different from the permit they had obtained.

Referring to the broader issue of fire management, Mr. Logginos said that a holistic study needs to be done regarding the needs of the Fire Service in rural areas.

He stressed that the data in the countryside has changed, that all fire stations must now operate on a 24-hour basis, and that new fire stations must be created in some rural areas.
