Larnaca Marina: Conference Center at the Naval Club – Developments

A significant step in the development of Larnaca Marina has been marked with the definition of specifications for the Naval Club building, following the termination of the contract with Kition Ocean Holdings. The Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafeadis, gave the "green light" for the submission of the Project Note to the Ministry of Finance, after a meeting with the Mayor of Larnaca.
A feasibility study and an architectural competition will follow. As Mr. Vafeadis stated, they are proceeding to the next phase for the preparation of the Project Note and the Feasibility Study, aiming to announce the competition as soon as possible.
The Mayor of Larnaca mentioned that the Naval Club building will be created opposite the District Administration building, in an area of 3,500 sq.m. One of the main uses of the building will be the operation of a conference center with a capacity of 500 people, and will include a restaurant, cafeteria and shops. The goal is to unify the Naval Club area with Europe Square.
The Project Note is expected to be submitted to the Ministry of Finance by the end of August, while the municipality aims to approve both (Project Note and Feasibility Study) by the end of the year.
The implementation of the marina dredging project has already begun, costing approximately €1 million. At the same time, the study of the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations S.A./Growthfund of Greece for the long-term plans of the marina and the port is in progress.
