Fine for Stopping on Pedestrian Crossing Reduced: From ā¬300 to ā¬85

A significant modification to the Photo Enforcement System, concerning the imposition of fines, is underway following legislation promoted by Nicosia MP, Marinos Mousiouttas.
The amendment reduces the fine to ā¬85 (from ā¬300) for stopping on a pedestrian crossing at intersections with photo enforcement cameras.
Mr. Mousiouttas expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of the legislation, which aims to enhance road safety and public acceptance of the Photo Enforcement System.
The Department of Electromechanical Services instructed the contractor on May 26, 2025, to make the necessary technical modifications. The pilot application will begin in late November 2025, with full implementation expected by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
Marinos Mousiouttas emphasized that this initiative is part of his effort for fairer and more applicable policies.
