Akrotiri Evacuation Measures Extended

The authorities of the British Bases, in cooperation with the Republic of Cyprus, have decided to extend the evacuation measures in Akrotiri until next Friday. The decision was made after an assessment of the situation.

The accommodation of residents in two hotels in Limassol and at the Holy Monastery of Agios Georgios in Erimi continues. A reassessment of the situation will take place in one week.

Schools in the area will remain closed. The mayor of Kourion, Pantelis Georgiou, stated that efforts are being made to temporarily relocate the schools, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the parents.
