The Council of Ministers has announced support measures for those affected by the recent fires in the Limassol district. The Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, detailed the measures, which include financial assistance, rental subsidies, and damage restoration.

The affected communities are: Omodos, Arsos, Koilani, Vasa Koilaniou, Vouni, Sylikou, Malia, Laneia, Lofou, Agios Therapon, Agios Ambrosios, Kissousa, Pachna, Kato Kivides, Pano Kivides, Souni-Zanakia, Alassa, Monagri, Pera Pedi, Kouka, Potamiou, Sotira, and Ypsonas.

According to the assessment by the Limassol District Administration, damages were caused to 440 residences, of which 211 were completely destroyed, 81 warehouses, 19 commercial properties, and 101 vehicles.

The measures include:

  • Lump sum payment: €10,000 for total destruction and €5,000 for partial, plus additional amount per dependent child.
  • Rental subsidy: From €800/month, depending on family composition and duration of damage.
  • Full damage restoration: Cost assessment by ETEK and payment in installments.
  • Fee exemptions: Exemption from community fees and taxes for 2025.
  • Rent exemptions: Suspension of rents for Turkish Cypriot properties and state-owned plots.
  • Reissuance of documents: Free reissuance of travel documents and other certificates.
