Nikos Christodoulides: Support for fire victims in mountainous Limassol

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, met with the Community Authorities of mountainous Limassol to review the restoration of damages from the July 2025 fires.

The President expressed his sorrow for the loss of two fellow citizens and thanked the state mechanism, volunteers and businesses for their contribution.

The Government has mobilized a comprehensive support plan with a budget of approximately 60 million euros, covering support for families, restoration of homes and properties, revitalization of the primary sector, support for local businesses and environmental restoration.

400,000 euros were immediately paid for the needs of the Community Councils and 850,000 euros to strengthen the operational capacity of the fire-stricken Communities. In addition, the allocation of 890 thousand euros to the Communities for projects of their choice was announced.

520 residences have been recorded, of which 215 were completely destroyed and 305 suffered partial damage. Compensation of 2.3 million euros has been paid to approximately 300 families to cover basic needs.

The President also referred to the restructuring of the institutional framework for managing natural disasters and the creation of a civil protection mechanism.
