The trial of former Commissioner for Volunteerism, Giannis Giannakis, has been adjourned again at the Nicosia District Court. Judge Nicol Grigoriou issued a stern warning to both sides, urging them to expedite the proceedings, rescheduling the case for August 6th.
The judge emphasized that if a sufficient number of witnesses do not appear, she will consider other ways to proceed with the case. On behalf of the Prosecution, Marina Masoura stated that witnesses were not called due to another pending case.
Petros Stavrou, the defense attorney, agreed to proceed with the preparation of admitted facts to reduce the number of witnesses. The trial began in November 2024, with 15 witnesses having already testified. Giannis Giannakis has admitted to three charges related to forged documents.
He still faces five charges related to forgery. The case continues on August 6th.
