New Desalination Unit Operational in Limassol

The new Mobile Desalination Unit at the Limassol Port is fully operational as of today, with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters of water per day. The unit is integrated into the water supply system after the completion of trial runs.
This is the third new unit to be put into operation recently, after those in Moni Limassol and Kissonerga since July 2025. The desalination units thus increase from five to eight.
The Minister of Agriculture stated that the produced water is directly channeled into the water balance, enhancing the coverage of water needs. The goal is to cover 100% of the needs by 2027.
The unit in Garyllis is also expected to be operational within the next few weeks, followed by Episkopi Limassol, Vasiliko, Mazotos and Germasogeia. Permanent units are also planned in the area of Free Famagusta, in Agia Thekla, in Eastern Limassol, in Dhekelia and in Polis Chrysochous.
