Car Graveyard in Limassol Forest: Urgent Call for Action
Share on:

A month after the devastating fire in mountainous Limassol, a report by *Politis* newspaper reveals a dangerous fire hazard in the Dymes community. Dozens of abandoned cars and bulky waste have turned a forest area into a dump.

The area, resembling a car graveyard, is only 500 meters from residences and borders a rural road. Despite complaints since 2022 and recent posts by A.Evlavis, the problem remains unresolved. Community leader Ch.Theocharous cited private property and other priorities.

A.Evlavis expressed his outrage at the inaction of the authorities. The *Politis* report recalls that illegal landfills are a constant threat throughout Cyprus. In the Paphos district alone, 540 illegal landfills have been recorded, while nationwide the number is estimated at hundreds.

Despite the allocation of funds from the Ministry of Interior, the phenomenon is growing, increasing the risk of fires.
