New Emergency Department to Open at Larnaca General Hospital

The new Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) of Larnaca General Hospital is expected to open between September 5th and 10th. Health Minister Michalis Damianos stated that the new A&E facilities are significantly larger than the old ones, representing a major upgrade for public health.
Mr. Damianos visited the Rapid Treatment Clinic at the hospital and emphasized the importance of cooperation in strengthening public health and relieving pressure on A&E departments. Rapid Treatment Clinics have already started operating in Nicosia, Paphos, and Famagusta.
According to the Minister, the new A&E will have 24 beds, including short-stay and infection beds. Maro Kliridou, Head of the A&E Department, stated that the new A&E will add value to the city of Larnaca and reduce patient waiting times.
Dr. Kliridou added that the new A&E will include a special examination room for pediatric patients and that the move to the new facility will be smooth, without interrupting services.
