New Emergency Department at Larnaca General Hospital to Open in September

The new Accident and Emergency Department (AED) of Larnaca General Hospital is expected to open between September 5th and 10th, according to statements by the Minister of Health, Michalis Damianos.
Mr. Damianos emphasized that the new AED's facilities are many times larger than the old one, offering a significant upgrade to public health services for the city of Larnaca. He also mentioned the launch of Rapid Treatment Clinics (RTC) in Larnaca, Famagusta, and other cities, aiming to reduce congestion in AEDs.
According to the Minister, the RTCs started on a pilot basis in Nicosia and Paphos and have served a large number of patients. In Larnaca, the RTCs have been operating since July 18th, while in Famagusta, they started seasonally on August 18th.
The first phase of the old wing of Larnaca General Hospital, which houses the new AED, is expected to be delivered within days. By the end of September, work will proceed on the mental health clinic, dental clinic, and mother and child areas.
The new AED will have 24 beds, including short-term hospitalization and infection beds, according to the Minister. Maro Kliridou, Head of the Accident and Emergency Department, stated that the new AED will add value to the city of Larnaca and reduce patient service times.
